CONTROLLER

JOB POSTING:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in providing relevant and constructive guidance to more junior staff or clients to support their business and financial management

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to develop strong partnerships

  • Ability to be professional, discrete, and confidential at all times

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively prioritize work assignments for themselves and team members

  • Customer service focused and experience in managing client relationships based on trust, expertise, and credibility

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to be efficient and effective while working independently, meeting frequent deadlines and tight timelines

  • Canadian professional accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) in good standing, or registration as a Canadian CPA candidate, or a combination of equivalent professional education and experience

  • Minimum four years work experience in an accounting role

  • Private sector accounting experience

  • Knowledge of and experience using accounting software such as Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, or QuickBooks Online

  • Proficient in learning, using, and applying current and new technologies in all aspects of work

  • Experience in preparing and analyzing complex financial statements and reports

  • Extensive experience in preparing complex reconciliations for assets and liabilities

We are searching for a full-time Accounting Technician interested in working with our team and a variety of our clients. As an Accounting Technician, you’d provide financial support to diverse private sector and not-for-profit clients from a wide range of occupations and industries.

Responsible to the President and CFO of The Corner Office, Accounting Technicians work in a team environment to provide services to companies who require accounting and financial management support. Client deliverables include recording transactions, assisting with payables and payroll, balance sheet reconciliations, and regulatory filings (GST/PST).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education focused on an accounting career such as an accounting diploma or degree, with aspirations for a career in accounting

  • Preference will be given to those having work experience in accounting or payroll

  • Preference will be given to those having a knowledge of and experience using accounting software such as Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, or QuickBooks Online

  • Proficient in learning, using, and applying current and new technologies in all aspects of work

PAYROLL SPECIALIST

The Corner Office is a growing professional services firm providing out-sourced accounting services and payroll administration to a large client base. We are searching for part-time payroll specialists interested in joining our team. This individual will provide payroll support to diverse private sector and not-for-profit clients from a wide range of occupations and industries. During peak busy times, this position may work full-time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsible to the President and CFO of The Corner Office and working in a team environment, you will provide services to companies such as processing new hires, terminations and rate changes, direct deposits, payroll deductions, pension, and T4s. In addition, you will prepare monthly and annual wage accruals for hourly and salaried employees, and reconcile payroll and vacation leave amounts. You are detailed, organized, and comfortable meeting tight deadlines.

Applicants with an appropriate level of accounting knowledge, skills, and abilities may be offered full time employment in a combined payroll/accounting technician role.

  • Related education focused on administration, accounting and/or payroll knowledge and skills acquisition

  • Canadian Payroll Association certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) would be an asset

  • Accounting knowledge, skills, and abilities through a combination of relevant education and work experience

  • Proficient in learning, using, and applying current and new technologies in all aspects of work

  • Excellent level of communication and relationship building skills to deliver strong customer service

  • Ability to be professional, discrete, and confidential at all times
